Office pranks can be a terrific way to get the tedium out of everyday work and have some fun along the way. No matter how tense the situation, everyone can benefit from a few minutes of laughter.
Below are some nifty ideas to pull on your coworkers:
1. Pick a few coworkers who typically come into work at about the same time in the morning and take off about the same time in the evening. When your coworkers leave for the day, leave them a voice mail on each of their machines, stating that there is an urgent meeting in the conference room the next day. Make sure the “meeting time” is set within a few minutes of their arrival time, without giving them too much time to settle in for the day. Leave each message as if it is from the next coworker. Watch the fun as they start moving towards the conference room for the meeting, or confront each other about the messages.
2. Pick a coworker who uses a desktop computer, or has a printer or other electrical office products plugged to a power strip in his or her cube. Set the switch on the power strip to the off position, unplug the computer or the electrical device plugged into it, and plug in a mini-radio or a CD player instead. Make sure the radio or the CD player stays hidden and is not easily visible in the desk clutter, and set the volume to the maximum level. When your coworker gets in and figures out that their computer or the electrical equipment is not turning on, the first thing they will probably check is the power strip. When they notice the switch in the off position and flip it on, you can enjoy the big bang for your efforts.
3. If your company uses the white Styrofoam cups for coffee or water, then here is an enjoyable break room prank that almost always works. Add a touch of fine-grained salt in each of those cups, and place them vertically one inside the other. It is not very likely that anyone will notice the addition. Whether the cups are used for coffee or drinking water, you can sit back, and enjoy the fun as your colleagues fill it up and take a sip.
4. Being the good Samaritan that you are, how about getting in a bit early in the morning and leaving a couple of candies on everyone’s desk? Except that for a few of your “victim” coworkers, what is wrapped inside the candy wrapping is not candy, but carefully shaped crayon or a painted eraser. This can also be a good time to use the prank candy that dyes the inside of the mouth bright colors. Watch their expression when they distractedly stick it in their mouth.
5. Most people like to put a picture of their loved one or that of a pet on their desks. A neat little trick would be to get in early, and exchange different people’s photo frames or photographs. Better yet, replace someone’s family photo with that of another person’s pet photo. Watch their eyes widen when they notice it for the first time.

Truck Drivers all over the United States and the world are putting away their rigs and searching for jobs in response to the soaring prices of gas everywhere. These are the people and the rigs that carry our food to the supermarkets and our toys for Christmas and everything in between the delivery car and the train. We are all used to seeing them by the thousands on the United States highways and today they are disappearing very fast. They cannot keep up with the rising petroleum costs.
Driving a truck used to be a good way to make a living, hard and lonely but it was good. Today this is not true anymore; unreachable, uncontainable gas prices are forcing them off the road. Today the driver of a semi or tractor trailer has to decide how much gas he will need to get a trip close to home and put food on the table. They are American’s engine and first line of product distribution and they are all losing their jobs in a weakened economy. The teamster unions have been famous for participating in many historic events in the United States, they were strong and proud, and today they are fighting for their lives.
These rigs and tractor trailers use huge amounts of fuel to transport products. They are equipped with monstrous engines that guzzle up diesel fuel. Even then it has always been cheaper and faster to use these monsters to move goods from one end of the Earth to another, but this is not so anymore. American truck drivers have recently found themselves in a position where they have to wait for another load in a strange town so they can have money and fuel to get home. Changing their motors is not a solution either, they will be on the road longer and their expenses will be increased anyway.
This situation does not only affect them, it affects all of us. Manufacturers, trucking companies and all those involved in the production process are adding a percentage to the price to cover their rising costs. Many products that were cheap last year are expensive this year. Many things have changed and will continue to change if nothing is done about this problem here in the United States. So far, the problem has no solution for us or for the truck drivers and it is affecting the whole world. If oil prices continue on their upward spiral, soon the highways of America will not only be empty of giant semis and tractor trucks but of other vehicles too.

Nobody likes having to pay more money for something than necessary, especially in these difficult financial times, so if there is a way to cut costs on your day-to-day expenses surely you will want to take advantage of it. Car insurance is one of those things that we simply must have. The penalty of being caught without it, or getting in a wreck with no coverage, is just not worth the risk of driving uninsured. While it may seem to save you money in the short-term, the expenses if you are caught are substantially more expensive.
When it comes to saving money, men and women’s policies are not created equally. In fact, car insurance for women is almost always less expensive than men’s car insurance. When looking for ways to save money on car insurance, here are some things to consider.
MORE IS LESS
Although insurance companies have their basic set of rules as to how they rate the average policy ,they love your business so the more business you send their way the more discounts they are likely to offer you. The average household will usually have more than one car and at least one life insurance or home owner’s policy. Consider combining these policies to get the best saving offers.
DON’T DOUBLE IT Most companies provide their employees with insurance and in the majority of cases these policies are relatively decent. If you are in a collision, your health insurance will cover most damages that you incur, therefore adding extra benefits for personal injury will do little but to increase your premiums and double your coverage.
SPEND LESS NOW We all know what our driving habits are and some of us even have a good idea how likely we are to get into an accident. Deductibles can increase our premiums drastically so if you are less likely to be “accident prone” and you can afford a higher out of pocket at the time of an accident, you may want to consider signing up for a higher deductible.
THE RIGHT COVERAGE
There is such a thing as “too much insurance” in fact some of us like to feel that we are protected no matter what. If you own an older car, it may be time to consider removing comprehensive coverage to just collision especially since the replacement value is almost nonexistent. Remember in any accident, insurance will weigh the cost of repairs to replacement value and pay the smaller of the two.
DOING YOUR PART
Although you may not have any control over how an insurance company rates you as a driver, you do have a reasonable amount of control on what your rating is, so making good decisions as a driver can go a long way to helping you with that rating. Your driving record is as important as your credit history, excessive speeding tickets and collisions will only cause you to look like a riskier person to insure and increase your liability which will translate into higher premiums.

There are two types of house hunting . The first is looking for a home in one’s existing city. The second is finding a place to live in another city or state as part of a relocation. It is obviously easier to conduct a local search, since individuals will be familiar with neighborhoods, schools, and services. They will also be able to easily tour and inspect potential living spaces so that they can make an informed decision about where to live.
In the case of someone relocating for a job, school, or other reason, it’s probably best if they look into renting rather than buying at first. This will give them a chance to get a feel for the area before committing to purchasing a home . It may also turn out that the job, school or the area itself doesn’t agree with them and they end up leaving after a year. A lease makes that much easier.
One of the best ways to look for a home in a faraway place is to contact a property management company. Services like TransGlobe will handle a variety of properties in different neighborhoods. They will be able to match a tenant with the type of house or apartment that meets their criteria and may be able to guide individuals and families through the relocation process, advising them about utilities and even hooking them up with movers. Best of all, these companies will likely have video tours(see below) and lots of information about neighborhoods and specific complexes and properties available online.
This type of information can make it much easier for someone to choose between potential homes and make them feel more comfortable about moving when they can’t check out property in person. Read the rest of this entry »
While Las Vegas has continued to increase in its popularity as a tourist destination, it has also experienced some significant changes in the demographic populations to which it appeals. A few decades ago, Vegas had reputation for attracting freewheeling singles and socialites with a strong appetite for the fast life. In addition to the casino oriented singles crowds, there were the thrill seeking couples who felt the romantic compulsion to fly to Vegas to get married. And while these attractions still exist, families and more mild mannered individuals have also found a vacation paradise in the city.
The entertainment scene alone has evolved into an extremely family oriented industry, and it strives to bring in the top-notch musicals from Broadway as well as a diverse collection of additional entertainment options. In addition, the numerous theme parks and great recreational options in the city promote a more balanced atmosphere for guests. This is truly one of the most diverse and all-encompassing cities in the country. And while there are plenty of people who enjoy the great night life scene and could spend their entire vacation in one of the popular Las Vegas night clubs , there are just as many who prefer to be in the audience of a great Disney musical . And all of these and more are welcome and embraced in this dynamic desert town.
The plethora of online coupons and coupon codes has turned the web into the promised land for coupon hunters. The one problem they face is how to organize the deals they find, since they are spread out on various websites, forums, and even arrive via email.
The first option is to go the old fashioned route. That means printing out every coupon as it is located. Then it’s simply a matter of sorting the next day blinds coupons from the grocery coupons from the electronics coupons.
A more internet-oriented solution is to create a folder in a web browser . Here each coupon URL can be bookmarked. For ease of organization, they should be renamed to include the name of the item and the expiration date. If there are enough URLs saved, they can be organized further into subcategories. When a coupon is needed, it can be easily found, printed out, and redeemed.
A third option applies to coupon or promo codes. Some printable next day blinds coupons will also include a code to be used for web purchases as well as in store savings. In those cases there’s no need to waste paper, as the code is what triggers the discount. Use a spreadsheet to organize coupon codes, storing the expiration date, exact product details and any restrictions that apply to the code. This will be the easiest method for sorting and filtering codes as well as deleting those that have expired.
Maps have the ability to open up the world to children. They can get lost for hours, turning the pages of an atlas and imagining the land, culture, and history of each new place. Some kids seem to have a natural affinity for using a map to unlock their imagination. Others can be guided to understand the beauty and wonder that is inherent in a map.
As soon as kids are old enough to understand symbols and spatial representations, it is time to start introducing maps into their consciousness. Puzzles are good for this. The shapes, colors, and tactile nature of jigsaw pieces will appeal to a kid even before they can understand that each piece represents a state, country, or continent.
As kids get older, getting them a globe, atlas, or wall map can begin to instill an interest in geography. Frequent references to the map that includes offering tidbits of information about specific features and places is all that is needed to spark the imagination. Pointing out on a london map the location of Shakespeare’s theater, telling stories about the Tower of London or locating the source of the 1666 Great Fire are all great ways to get kids interested in what maps represent.
Americans have a long-standing love affair with the automobile . While most people focus on cars, others have a love of trucks or motorcycles. Even ATVs, RVs, and other special vehicles have their rabid fanatics. The most avid car lovers can not only talk for hours about their vehicles, they can complete most repairs themselves.
They are not alone. More and more people are finding that being able to care of minor repairs and even auto detailing appeals to some deeper part of themselves. A lot of this has to do with the sense of accomplishment that can only be felt when someone works with their hands. Anyone who spends their days toiling in an office environment, with their brain doing all the heavy lifting, feels a tremendous sense of pride when they are able to do something physically demanding.
There is another appeal to DIY car repairs that drives many people to pick up a good repair manual and pop the hood. This is the desire to save money. With the economy still floundering in most places, people need to be able to cut back on expenses whenever possible. The ability to take over even minor repairs like fluid changes, wiper repair, or replacing a battery can save a considerable amount of money over the course of a year. The more complicated the problem, the more money is saved by a DIYer.
